Sagekey first offered the Access 2000 runtime solution back
in September 1999. Since then it has been well received by the Access
community as the best solution for
reliably installing the Access 2000 runtime.
As of February 2009 we will no longer be selling the products for Access 2000.
The reasons are threefold:
-
Stability
- Microsoft stopped support for Access 2000 in 2004. Since
then Sagekey has endeavored to provide compatibilty with the newer
versions of Access and with newer operating systems. This has become
increasingly difficult with time.
-
Reliability
- As Microsoft's own technology has moved on, situations faced by our customers
and in turn their customers have become more varied which means the reliability
of the runtime itself has become questionable. For example, Sagekey
repackaged the 2000 runtime into 2 files - an MSI and a CAB file to combat
specific install issues.
-
Solution - Sagekey is committed to being solution based
and we believe that using the Access 2000 runtime is no longer
a stable solution.
Our current support model for this product will continue for the next
214
days.
Access remains at the forefront of database technology and while we feel
the 2000 runtime is no longer the best solution, we have thousands of
customers using 2002, 2003
and 2007 runtimes with excellent results.
We recommend upgrading your application(s) to one of these newer Access
versions.

2000 application to a later version of Access, please
