In my code I use transferspreadsheet to push tabular data out to Excel. I am testing the app as an A2010 runtime installation, using the 2010 Pro Deployment Wizard. The app was compiled in a Windows 7 / Access 2010 environment. so the Excel library it uses is that of Office 14. I am testing the installation on an XP SP3 system with Office 2003 installed -- the library references on this machine are to Office 10.

I notice that EXCEL.EXE is bundled with my app when I run the wizard. The Sagekey install routine errors out if I try to install with this reference deleted. So I now have the installation, with EXCEL.EXE there in the folder along with the accdb file. When I push the data out to spreadsheet, I get an incompatible format error, and the resulting spreadsheet is gibberish. Is the app pushing Excel 2010 data out to the Excel 2003 that is installed on the machine?

Why do I need to include EXCEL.EXE in the installation if I know the machine has the app already? How to have the tabular data reach the appropriate spreadsheet app? Should I back away from using the Office 14 library and use an earlier one? Seems like that defeats the purpose of the executable installation.
