There are several differences between version 2 and 3. Here are some of them:
1. Extra functionality - we've spent a lot of time listening to our customers and providing the functionality that's needed. Features include an interface for extra installs before and after the main install. And here's the one that I reckon about 90% of people will use most - extra shortcuts.

2. This version has been tested with Office 2010, the previous versions have not and will not be supported as compatible with machines running Access 2010. This product will form the basis of our releases which will inevitably come when the Office 2010 product is released generally.

3. We have added a version of our security tool to the product so that we can control licenses better, avoid piracy and therefore keep our prices down (hence they're already $50 cheaper for a product with more functionality).

4. The tiered product (basic, lite and pro) is to provide the right functionality to people at the right price.

You can download the demo and see the differences for yourself - this is something else we've been able to add as a result of using our own security tool embedded in the product.

The 'upgrade' price of $150 is to cover the work put into the product.
We're not forcing people to upgrade to this new version, the current products are up to date with everything Microsoft have thrown at us so far (Windows 7, 64bit systems and pre Office 2010).

We hope and expect that this upgraded product will form the basis of our 2010 compatible (that's machine's running Access 2010 rather than our 2010 runtime product) solution in which case you can expect that this upgrade price will also cover that release.
